Space and/or graphics between tracks
I use two different tracks for different languages (surtitling for an opera theatre). Each track has normally two lines, so in the big screen above the stage the audience sees 4 line moving. For long and rich librettos (read Wagner) it’s sometimes a tiresome and even disturbing activity.
It would be very useful, in order to help the audience to read the single track/language of choice, to be able to insert some space between the tracks.
Or even better, to insert a fixed graphic line or a fixed point. The eye sees the point or the line and read under or above it. It’s a system already used by some of the opera theatre in Italy, when two languages are displayed on a single screen using a projector.
At the moment I have to insert a third empty track, in order to have some distance between tracks, but it’s a tricky and empirical way.
I tried to insert the point in the third track, but the vertical alignement system would rearrange his position depending from the number of lines dispayed in each title (for example if one track/language has one line and his translation two, the point moves vertically from the position the had in the previous title).
A simple, elegant, fixed line (or point) would be much better and I think could be a useful improvement indeed.
